10 Best must-watch movies of the '80s worth your time
From John Hughes' The Breakfast Club to Steven Spielberg's E.T., the movies of the 1980s not only shaped its generation, but inspired subsequent generations in every way imaginable. At least a few of these films are guaranteed to be close to your heart: The 10 best must-watch movies of the '80s.
||Best Movie's Review
|#1. The Breakfast Club
||Often imitated, never bettered, The Breakfast Club is an all-time champion movie that entertains, educates, and endures. Like all the greats, a simple set-up reveals hidden layers.
|#2. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
||Not all coming-of-age films are about becoming an adult. Some are about teaching you valuable life lessons at any age. E.T. might just be the most profound, inventive, and affecting example of that, as Elliott learns that the things you love won't always last, teaching him that it's okay to let go as well.
|#3. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
This hit comedy from John Hughes' chronicles the events in the day of larger than life character Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick). And while that concept sounds a little simplistic, the over-the-top situational comedy more than makes up for it. Besides, who didn't want to skip a day school and go on a crazy adventure?
||Batman is one of the most famous superheroes ever, he is portrayed by Michael Keaton in a movie 'Batman' which is just epic. Regarded by me when i was younger as a truly captivating movie it was very fun to watch indeed. I watch it now and time has taken it's toll, what with sequels and the new reboot, which has overshadowed this in part, Batman Begins.
|#5. Stand By Me
|| This is one of the best '80s films about friendship, childhood, and coming of age that has ever graced the silver screen. Following the story of a group of boys as they traverse the Oregon countryside to try and find the body of a stranger who was killed near their home.
|#6. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
||The second film in George Lucas's original science fiction trilogy – this entry into the Star Wars saga is widely considered to be the best of them all (including the most recently released ones). And the special effects, which were literally invented by the people working on the film, still hold up extremely well today. Just be sure that, if you haven't seen this one, you start with Episode IV: A New Hope, first.
|#7. The Goonies
||The Goonies Never Say Die! It's been over 25 years since Mikey, Chunk, Data and co's adventures with “One-Eyed” Willy (stop laughing at the back!) and the love for the gang keeps on growing. Altogether now, “Hey You Guys!”
|#8. Wings of Desire
||It is definitely one of the movies that I absolutely need to re-watch at some point. Still, I remember very well the first time I saw the damned thing. Indeed, at some point, I saw ‘Paris, Texas', I was completely blown away by the whole thing and it immediately became one of the best movies I had ever seen.
|| A truer statement could not have been made by Hoverbird, “Everybody thinks The Social Network is the best movie about forming a start-up company, they are wrong. The best movie is Ghostbusters.”
|#10. Fanny and Alexander
||Ingmar Bergman intended Fanny and Alexander (Fanny och Alexander) to be his swan song, and it is the legendary filmmaker's warmest and most autobiographical film, a triumph that combines his trademark melancholy and emotional intensity with an immense joyfulness and sensuality. The Criterion Collection is proud to present this winner of the 1984 Academy Award® for Best Foreign Language Film
